فادي كان دايمًا بحب يطلع مرتب قدّام الناس، مش بس بلبسه وكمان بصورته وبصيته، لما تعرّف على سارة، كانت بنت عفوية زيادة، وبتحكي بصوت عالي، وبتضحك من قلبها، وما بتهتم بحكي العالم. مرة طلعوا سوا على كافيه، أول ما دخلوا شاف كم واحد من صحابه قاعدين، فادي استعجل فجأة، وصار يمشي قدّامها وما عبّرها. لما قعدوا سارة حكتله بهدوء: “إنت مستحي مني؟” فادي حاول يلف ويدور: “لا والله… بس يعني…” قاطعته: “بس يعني شو؟ شو قصدك بهاي الحركات؟” هون فادي بلش يتأتئ ويحكي شروي غروي. سارة: “خلص لا تكمل وصلت الفكرة” فادي دخل بالحيط وما عرف يرد لأنه حسّ حاله صغير قدامها.

عفوي

A common translation of عفوي is spontaneous, but in Jordanian Arabic it often means that someone speaks and behaves naturally, honestly, and without overthinking what others think. It is often closer to unfiltered, genuine, or natural than to “impulsive” or “unplanned.”

هاد تصرّف عفوي.
That was a spontaneous / natural reaction.

هاد سلوك عفوي.
That’s natural, unpretentious behavior.

حكيه دايمًا بطلع عفوي.
He always speaks naturally and without a filter.

Note: عفوي does not necessarily mean that a person is disorganized or doesn’t plan ahead. It usually describes someone who is genuine, relaxed, and says what is on their mind.
